In the autumn, when it gets cold outside and the grass growth slows down, it is time to prepare your Automower robotic lawn mower for winter and take it indoors for storage. The preparations include thorough cleaning and maintenance, charging the battery and ensuring the correct storage environment. Preferably, you should also book an annual service at your local dealer before spring arrives.
Winter maintenance and storage at home.
If you want to take care of the preparations and winter storage yourself, here is a list of things to consider.
Annual service and winter storage at a Husqvarna dealer’s.
We recommend you take your Automower robotic lawn mower for a service at your Husqvarna dealer. Regular service will keep the product in good condition and prepare it for a new season without any disruptions.
To save space in your garage, ask your dealer about their winter storage offering.
Service usually includes the following:
Remember to disable the geofence before taking the product to your dealer.
Charging during winter storage.
Most Automower models do not require charging when stored. Just make sure the mower is fully charged before you turn it off.
For some older models, the battery must be charged once every three months. See your operator’s manual for what applies to your model.
Can I leave my Automower robotic lawn mower outdoors all year?
We highly recommend storing the robotic lawn mower, charging station and power supply indoors in the winter. The boundary wire and guide wire can stay in the ground. For Automower NERA models, it is enough to remove the top of the charging station and put it into storage together with the mower. It is not necessary to put the baseplate of a NERA charging station into storage.
If you cannot store the charging station indoors, the charging station must be connected to the mains, boundary wire and guide wires for the entire winter.
Storage of EPOS reference station
The EPOS reference station, used in wire-free installations with EPOS Technology, is weatherproof and can be left outside all year around, but it can be removed from the bracket if service is required or for long-term storage.
If you keep the reference station outdoors during the winter, we recommend you keep the power supply connected.
If you store the reference station indoors, we recommend you keep the arm installed at the post or wall. This will allow you to install the reference station in its original position after storage and thereby reuse the virtual boundary and the map items you have created. If you move the reference station, you need to create the virtual boundary and work areas again.
The reference station can be stored in a temperature of -20°C to 70°C/-4°F to 158°F.
